RIoT Insight names Eric Olafson as Chairman of the Board of Directors

Disruptive RFID tech company gains momentum as retail industry visionaries join the ranks

NEW YORK— January 14, 2019—RIoT Insight is pleased to announce the naming of Eric Olafson as Chairman of the Board of Directors.

Eric was the CEO of Tomax Corporation, a pioneer in cloud retailing. Founded in 1981, Tomax evolved as an early adopter of centralized, real-time architecture in the late 1990s with the emergence of the internet, enabling retailers to take the cost and complexity out of their retail operations, host it in what is now known as the cloud, and focus on what’s matters most, their retail operations. Tomax JPOS was one of the industry’s first thin client Java-based POS solutions, empowering high-speed transaction processing over the network with the assurance of native offline mode, and served thousands of stores locations. Tomax was acquired by Demandware in 2015 as it was introducing it’s next generation cloud platform to the industry, resulting in a compelling commerce portfolio combining the eCommerce online experience of Demandware with the in-store capabilities of Tomax. Soon after, Demandware was acquired by Salesforce in 2016 resulting in the formation a new business division, Salesforce Commerce Cloud.
